It’s never good news when a small business runs into trouble, but recent reports would seem to indicate that 2011 Small Bar of the Year – The White Hart (TWH) has gone into receivership. This is despite a notice on their front door indicating that they were “Closed for kitchen renovations” and would be “re-opening soon with a new & exciting menu”.
The venue has now being closed for over a month, and our attempts to contact the owners to confirm the above have proved fruitless. With several calls going unanswered, along with requests for info via social media (Facebook/Twitter). Additionally, their web site no longer online. All of which doesn’t bode well for a bar thats allegedly re-opening soon.
Comments from disgruntled patrons on TWH’s Facebook Page would also indicate something is afoot, with Angela K mentioning – “I’m sorry to say they have apparently gone into administation (sic). My group of friends turned up today for a 2pm booking to find it closed with a message on the door. We had to ask the neighbouring restaurant what had happened.”
Marcela T also wrote “DISHONEST and very poor of you to send an email the night before you stop trading (today) saying you are “sorry” you can’t no longer “honour ” Group on vouchers after you took the money!!! Some prior notice would have been the honest thing to do…”.
The Neutral Bay small bar has been on the market for over 6 x months, with an asking price of $250,000. Enquiries to the real estate agent indicating the vendor was “extremely motivated to sell”.
More updates as they come to hand.
