Boilermaker House – Melbourne
Missing out by a bee’s dick on opening for the GABs weekend – Boilermaker House finally threw open their doors at the end of May.
Brought to you by Eau de Vie Melbourne co-owners (Greg Sanderson & Sven Almenning), Boilermaker House boasts more than 700 x Whiskies and 12 x craft beer taps (as well as 70 bottles), more than 20 x cheeses, and a hearty dash of fine charcuterie.
For those of you that didn’t know, a boilermaker is the art of drinking the whisky and beer simultaneously. With Eau de Vie serving a boilermaker tasting menu for the last eight months or so, highlighting the complementary nature of quality craft beers paired with top-notch whiskies.
Open until 3am every night, the venue boasts an 8.5 metre long main bar that plays host to the 12 x beer taps which is looked over by a raised private dining area reserved for special occasions. A custom-made fridge bolted to the wall displays 25 x different types of cured meats and tasty cheeses, sold by the weight. The charcuterie is served right up until closing time, with booth seats opposite perfect to settle in for the night. There’s also a great big communal table suspended from the ceiling.
