Joe’s Juice Joint is a classic example of a genuine Rock n’ Roll dive bar.
Starting its life as a ‘pop-up’ bar from Clint Nolan and his Lavish Habits Group (Sneaky Tony’s, Who’s Your Mumma and La Cholita), Joe’s has proven so popular, its now set to be a permanent fixture in Northbridge.
Like its ‘Sneaky’ brother, Joe’s Juice Joint is also located down a dark, dingy, graffiti covered laneway. From there you enter the building via a non-descript, back door, and down a dank, peeling band poster covered stairway.
Once inside, the resemblance to Sydney’s Frankie’s Pizza, becomes overwhelming. Dimly lit, plenty of booth/table seating, loud rock music, peeling band posters, pinballs and tasty beverages – think craft beer, complimentary peanuts, cocktails, American bourbon, and Japanese whisky.
Joes late 4am licence also means that its a big hit with the hospo crew after they’ve finished their shifts at the many bars and restaurants around the area. With lines regularly kicking off shortly after 12.
If you’re planning on a quiet, romantic evening, or some gentile conversation with friends, Joe’s Juice Joint is not for you. It’s loud, raw, and unashamedly brash. Thats not to say the welcoming, and knowledgeable, bar staff will treat you any differently…unless of course you’re being dick!
Joe’s Juice Joint is great example of how Perth’s small bar scene is evolving, and just like Sneaky Tony’s, i’m a big fan!
