York Street has another new small bar, with Parke Davis quietly opening their doors last month.
Located below The Cuban Place bar (formerly known as La Bodeguita del Medio), the fit out, and cocktail list, was designed by Julian Serna (aka Pure Drinks Design, and ex-Porteno).
Named after an American pharmaceutical company who originally patented and manufactured PCP, Parke Davis’ main focus is cocktails. Served from behind an attractive, solid timber bar decorated with old packing crates that double as shelves, and antique metal cocktail jugs hanging from hooks.
The rest of the space is made up of banquettes that line the walls and upholstered packing sacks that double as seating. They’re waiting on a shipment of old American apothecary glasses and jars to fill the not-quite-finished shelves at the back of the room.
It’s a nice continuation of the whole pharmaceutical theme.
