Peekaboo – Woolloomooloo
Just when you thought Sydney’s slew of small bars couldn’t get any better, another great little hide away opened their doors this week – Peekaboo Bar. This charming, sultry small bar is tucked away from the main drag on Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo.
The fit out by Edge Design Studio, reveals exposed sandstone walls, naked light bulbs, a varnished timber bar top and a custom painted mural paying homage to many ‘movie greats.’
Think classic cocktails, local and international wines and a handpicked selection of craft beers.
For something to nibble there is a selection of smaller share plates or more substantial meals if you feel like making a night of it. The food at Peekaboo bar consists of soft tacos with either chicken, pork or veggie (5 each), five spiced pork belly with cauliflower puree (16) and a chermoula prawn, pomegranate and couscous salad (14) and there is also simple but tasty charcuterie board that offers a selection of cured meats, cheese and olives (25) which would wash down nicely with many of the wines available by the glass.
Once a month to end the week Peekaboo features Sunday Bloody Sundays with live music to set the mood from 5pm. Settle in with a selection of Bloody Mary’s, Bloody Bulls, jugs of Pimms or Tinnies and chow down on Buffalo wings, cheesy fries and mini dogs.
