Only 13 x months after opening their doors, the Fazey family have decided to call it a day, and close their Cremorne small bar.
After some initial DA teething issues, and their liquor licence taking more than a year to get approved, Side Car finally opened their doors in December 2014.
Targeting the artistic, hipster, lower-north shore market, Side Car appeared to trade well for the first few months of 2015, but as is typically the case, business appeared to drop off over winter.
A permanent ‘bar/kitchen staff wanted’ sign that appeared on the front window in August, seemed to indicate the owners were having some staffing challenges. Then in November, unconfirmed rumours surfaced that the building owner was looking to demolish/redevelop the site (although there is a For Lease sign currently in the window).
That aside, it’s always sad to see a small bar close their doors. Especially given the amount of blood, sweat, time and money the owners invest into these ventures. We wish Rob, and the rest of Team the Fazey, all the best with their future endeavours.
