Southside Tea Room – Morningside
If your Nana was to set up a small bar in her kitchen, i’d imagine that Brisbane’s Southside Tearoom would look pretty close to the mark!
Opening its doors back in May 2012, this uber kitch small bar & cafe takes lo-fi to the next level!
Resplendent with faux fireplace, genuine timber-look wallpaper, macrame pot holders, plastic flower garlands and vintage lounges Southside Tearoom is all about a retro experience.
They have a decent selection of beers available, with a couple of rotating tap selections (currently hosting Burleigh and Bacchus Brewing), and a range of bottled varieties to quench that craft ale thirst. They also have a few classic cocktails on offer, for those looking to get their Martini on!
Food comprises of light bar snacks such as toasties, sliders, and tapas-style share plates. For those with a sweet tooth, they also do cakes, tarts, cupcakes and cookies.
Once a month, the Southside crew run a Community Mini Market for local artists to spruik their kitchy wares such as felted and knitted knick knacks, clothes, and other assorted wares.
Best of all, they have an old skool (free) pinball machine for you to challenge your mates on.
